Not cheap but will help you prepare

I used this book for a fourteen-hour cram session prior to taking the ACS exam over first semester general/inorganic chem. I scored in the 99th percentile on the exam, and I definitely do credit this book, in particular the way it helped me focus my preparation, for the high score. Please don't get the impression that I only studied fourteen hours during the entire course - I was definitely a diligent student throughout the semester and went into the final with a strong A. However, due to time constraints and the demands of my other classes, I knew I would not have a lot of time to prep for the ACS exam, so I got this hoping it would compensate a little for my lack of prep time. If you're preparing for the first semester exam, you don't want to waste time studying things that won't be covered (Note: this book covers two semesters of general chemistry). I found a suggested problem study list online from a Prof. Sevian at UMass-Boston that was very helpful in this regard. She gives the relevant studyguide chapter to review, and then within that chapter, the study questions to work first, and then the practice questions to do at test-taking speed. She gives a few other notes that you might find helpful, so it might be worth looking online for her exam guide yourself.
