My only prep source for the NCLEX, overal great review but has its flaws & false advertisments.

Pros:
-Despite other reviews, I actually liked having the answers on the same page so you can quickly grade yourself & read rationales. An envelope is a simple fix to avoid cheating.
-I like the motivational images throughout, kept me going when I got sick of studying
-Utilizes alternative format (SATA, ordering, image hot spots etc.)
-Great overall review from all specialties of nursing school (fundamentals, med surg, pharm, geri, pedi, OB, psych etc)
-Easy to follow book, went through it faster than expected.
- I feel prepared to take the NCLEX next week. ( I used this book entirely & made a study guide of things I didn't remember as well such as labs, meds, EKG rhythms etc to look over)
Cons:
-Several questions/answers are mislabeled. You think you got it wrong until reading the rationale you discover you were right & it was a typo. Kind of annoying for a book with so many editors listed.
-The images in the margin that have 'hints' sometimes give the answer away too easily
-The book is organized by system (cardiac, resp, heme) vs by client needs category (safety, prioritization, management etc) which leads me to my next point:
-In any given section, even the 6 practice tests, many questions give hints or answers to the next question which the NCLEX avoids doing by having a more random order of items.
-FALSE ADVERTISING: the back cover claims "More than 6,500 questions & answers with rationales" plus "6 comprehensive examinations" and a "bonus online content". The entire book, including the 6 compressive exams only had 3,517 questions (not counting the handful of lame example questions in the first 2 intro chapters) ....There are however, 3,098 questions in the "bonus" online component that comes with the book. There is a scratch off code on the inside cover where you can view a pdf of the book as an E book & a section with online review questions where the other 3k questions hide.

Perfect layout for success

I absolutely love the format of this book. Upon opening it, it just seems less intimidating that most NCLEX study guides while containing the same level of questions found in any other book.
I am one of those readers that requires immediate feedback and clarity after each question. Other books force me to search to the back for answers and flip back and forth. Worse, some of them have the answers just under each question making it impossible to conveniently cover the answers to self test. I cannot express how much I appreciate that this book has the answers just to the right of the question. I can read the answer immediately if I choose or just run a paper down the right side of the page and cover up all or some of the answers.

Great Book, Tons of Questions!

I am using this book to review material for NCLEX during my last semester of BSN nursing school. I love how the questions and answers/rationales are in side-by-side columns so I don't have to flip back and forth to the back of the book! The questions are well-organized and cover all types of topics. Plus, it is HUGE (about 900 pages) and includes sections for all of adult health, the psychiatric client, maternal/neonatal, pediatrics, and management/leadership/ethical/legal issues. You can study systematically through the entire book, or focus on areas of weakness. I have used the Made Incredibly Easy books throughout nursing school and have loved them! Highly recommended!
